The Nearness of God

“But as for me, the nearness of God is my good; I have made the Lord GOD my refuge, That I may tell of all Your works.” Psalm 73:28

Have you been in a place where you felt so close to God, you could almost touch Him? O the joy found in His presence is inexplicable!  You feel as if everything is possible, and nothing can put you down. 

The life of a believer requires giving of ourselves as we represent and express Christ in a chaotic world.  This can be daunting if not impossible without the help of the Holy Spirit.  The Psalmist realized the need for God’s presence as the source of his strength and so prioritized spending time with Him so he can be fortified for the task at hand.

In the same way, we must also understand the reality that we can do nothing without Christ (John 15:5) and therefore, we must strive to spend quality time with Jesus daily so we can be refreshed and receive the needed strength required for every day. 

As you sit at the feet of Jesus today, may He shower you with His presence and lift every weight and burden off you and fill you with His inexplicable joy and peace. 

Prayer

“He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength.” Isaiah 40:29

Father God, please grant me the grace to spend time with you daily.  Help me understand my profound need for You in every aspect of life.  Please help me to let go of the presumption that I can make it without You.  Lord, I need You desperately.  Please grant me the grace to be disciplined and to prioritize time with you in my daily schedule.  Thank You Lord for listening and answering my prayer.
